Ok, so french is very complicated...

First, contrary to English, we have sexe for our objects...

No rules about it, it's all to learn...

Like a chair is female, and a desk is male ._.

singular (a, an) = le (male), la (female)
plural (the) = les (no sexe distinction at plural)

The colors :

Blue : bleu/bleue
Green : vert/verte
Pink : rose
Yellow : jaune
Brown : marron
White : blanc/blanche
Black : noir/noire
Grey : gris/grise
Orange : orange
Red : rouge
Purple : violet/violette, mauve

The animals :

A cat : un chat / une chatte
A dog : un chien / une chienne
A horse : un cheval / une jument
A pig : un cochon / une cochonne, une truie
A bird : un oiseau
A fish : un poisson
A cow : une vache
A bull : un taureau
A donkey : un âne
A sheep : un mouton
